Why You Need A Collectible Car Insurance

Now that you've spent time and money modifying or repairing your antique/classic car, the next important step to make is protect it by taking out a comprehensive Collectible Car Insurance policy. You have to chose the right one because not all car policies are the same.  For instance, specialty insurance is different from regular vehicle coverage because for one, it allows you to sleep peacefully with no worries at night. If your expensive antique vehicle is damaged or lost, having the correct insurance policy may mean the big difference between a fully-covered accident or a crippling out-of-pocket personal expense.

Replicars, hot rods, foreign and domestic sport scars, woodies, classic, muscle cars, antique, custom, kit and modified cars may be covered by a collectible car insurance coverage. This insurance also provides coverage for labor and towing.  It even provides reimbursements for unusual expenses like car show, roadside assistance, and emergency travel. Before  signing the deal, however, the car owner and the underwriter must come to an agreement about the value of the vehicle.  If the vehicle is damaged or totaled, the insurance policy will cover only for the agreed value.

If you own more than one antique vehicle, get a Collectible Car Insurance policy that offers a multi-vehicle discount. You may even receive more than one depending on the state where you live. In fact, some insurance companies even allow addendum's like a no additional cost spare parts coverage that reimburses up to a certain amount. Or a no attendance clause if you drive your car to a car show. With an additional coverage like this, you can leave your car to watch the show unworried about any loss or damage.

Not all insurance companies, however, offer this kind of privilege so discuss the option with your underwriter. You can also take time to comparison-shop or read consumer reviews about certain insurance carriers, specifically their claims processing. Policies that are customized are good because they may include features you can't do without and others you simply must have. A good policy is also something that does not require deductibles nor does it require mileage limitation on your vehicle.

Collectible car insurance has been around for over 50 years yet many specialty car owners have yet to discover and appreciate its true value.  In fact, most of them still prefer to insure their antique vehicles with standard insurance policies that are not only costly but have restrictive policies. What they don't realize is that annual premiums offered by specialty insurance are up 500% less than those standard insurance programs offered by competitors. Although standard policies offer adequate advantages, they rarely provide special benefits in their car collector policies. So, do a thorough research before making a decision. Remember, although the cost of a collectible car insurance is important, it should also  equal the quality of service,  the claims handling, and the knowledge and keen understanding of the company about collector vehicles and the love their owners feel for them.
